Copenhagen...

I'm off to Copenhagen, Denmark on Tuesday for a series of events:

1. A programme at Roskilde University. I will be discussing my writing, with particular emphasis on my story ‘To A Cartoonist’ [which deals with the Danish Cartoon crisis of 2006], written at the 2006 Caine Prize workshop in Kenya, and published in the Caine Anthology OBITUARY TANGO

There will also be discussions on contemporary Nigerian writing, as well as on Nollywood (we'll be watching and discussing a few Nollywood 'blockbusters')

2. The Nordic Africa Days Conference at the University of Copenhagen, theme of which is "Africa on the Move". I will be presenting a paper on The Language Question in African Literature: English versus Indigenous African Languages as part of the 'City Culture, New Culture, but whose Culture?' workshop.

Hope you enjoy the events, my friend.
Meanwhile, I'll be checking out obituary tango on this link - seems a terribly interesting collection including your entry 'to a carttonist'. This is excellent...
With best wishes

Hello Tolu,

I'm interested in your work in African literature o. I' rewriting my M.A thesis on Habila and the African writing self for publication. Is there anyway you can share some of your ideas about literature here?

Rayo - we'll be 'analysing' the movies, not watching 'em :-))))

Lost at the end - will be happy to share. I find that many of my thoughts are just slowly evolving, I'm mostly caught up in trying to CREATE (fiction, poetry), and as I do I find myself having to define my art... especially because these days I get asked questions that compel me to stop, sit and think, regarding my writing...
It's a tortuous journey, esp for an 'outsider' like me who's never formally studied literature, but it's an inevitable journey as well, and my bags are packed and my hands are on the plough...
